Fair Returns to BIG EVENT
Theme: "The Household of God" The annual Mission Fair will be held again this year concurrently with the BIG EVENT on Saturday, September 15, at Massanetta Springs Conference Center. The Fair begins at 8:00am and concludes at 3:00pm with the closing worship service. This is a great opportunity to tell the story about what God is doing in mission through your congregation. It may be a local mission program such as a food pantry or clothes closet or soup kitchen, or maybe your youth group or women's group has helped someone right in your community or across the nation. Maybe some from your congregation have gone to Mexico or Russia or Ethiopia or Guatemala or Haiti. Share the stories and photos about these important events in the life of your congregation at the Mission Fair. To sign up, complete the form found online at www.shenpres.org/WWMindex.html. |
iCARE Children Need Someone Who
Cares Since 1999, Shenandoah Presbytery has been in partnership with the Illubabor Bethel Synod (IBS) at the Gore Home for Children in the iCARE program. What began as helping support up to 50 children as they lived at the Gore Hostel, attended school in the town of Gore, and learned other vocational skills, has grown and expanded over the years. In 2011, Shenandoah has increased the number of students it supports toward a goal of 85 children. Shenandoah is also supporting the staff of the Gore Home as well. It is a significant challenge for our Ethiopian partners to accept responsibilites for these children. But it is also a labor of love for our presbyter's Partnership Committee who continues to stand with IBS in this endeavor. The iCARE Committee is seeking up to 14 new sponsors for these children for the coming year. Sponsors enable children to have hope in a future. Students from the Gore Home have played significant roles in the communities and in the EECMY denomination as well. For more information contact Lou Dolive at (540)886-2951 or ldolive@cfw.com, or Mimi Moring at (540)336-5647 or mmmoring@gmail.com. Catch the Mission Spirit: Is Your Church's Listing Current? If not, send your updated mission activites to Doug Sensabaugh at the presbytery office. A new booklet will be published and available at the August 25 meeting of presbytery. Do it today. |
