A book
for a study or small group you say?
Well read on below for what’s new today!
The goal of the For Today series of Bible studies is to provide
an engaging way to study texts and practices found in Scripture while both
looking at what these subjects have meant in the past as well as what they
hold for the present. Questions for discussion are found at the end of each
chapter, and each book is around ten to twelve chapters in length. These
could be used for group study, or individual reflection. Currently in our
collection you will find:
The Life of Jesus for Today
The Ten Commandments for Today
The Psalms for Today
The Apostle’s Creed for Today
The Beatitudes for Today
Living the Good Life Together: A Study
of Christian Character in Community
This unique series of 12-week studies for groups explores key features of
Christian character and then, as a group, provides opportunity to apply those
learnings to daily life. Each kit contains a study and reflection guide, DVD
with clips for each session, and a leader’s guide.
Currently the Center has:
Discernment: Acting Wisely – topics
include discerning God’s presence in our midst, our work, in the shadows
and in our habit of being.
Attentiveness: Being Present – topics include
listening to the right voices, self-awareness, keeping time and listening
alone, listening together.
Sisters: Bible Study for Women
This Bible study is designed specifically for small groups of women to share
together. Each kit includes a VHS and DVD with segments to view during each
gathering. A participant workbook for daily reading and reflection is also
included as well as a Leader’s Guide to facilitate a small-group’s 45-75 minute
discussion. We currently have:
Unfailing Love: Growing Closer to Jesus
Christ – this six-week study of the Gospel of Luke explores the life
of Jesus and the ways in which Jesus Christ reaches out to each of us, offering
deep spiritual friendship and unfailing love.
Finding Balance – this six-week study helps women
consider the question of balance in their busy lives by examining the lives
of New Testament women such as Mary and Martha, Lydia, Mary the mother of
Jesus, the Canaanite woman, and Mary Magdalene. The study concludes by exploring
the anointing of Jesus Christ, in which women played a crucial role.
Finally, for a fun summer read how about The Parables of Dr. Seuss? Written by Robert
Short. An engaging adventure into the spirituality of Theodore Geisel’s beloved
stories, including Green Eggs and Ham, The Cat in the Hat, and many more.
And always
remember, in those great words of Horton:
“A person’s a person, no matter how small.”
