Cow Project

The iCARE program was developed in response to a need for sponsors for a number of children at the Gore Bethel Home for Children in Gore, Ethiopia.

Since it began, the iCARE program has supported many children through their secondary education years until they are ready to move on to the university or seminary or into jobs within their communities. Learn more about this exciting program.

     English Tutoring School

Shenandoah Presbytery's Partnership Committee, in cooperation with the Illubabor Bethel Synod Youth Program of the Ethiopian Evangelical Church Mekane Yesus, invites students and educators to apply for participation in a summer English language tutoring school for high school students in Metu, Ethiopia for four weeks in the summer of 2011 (late June through early August). Please consider prayerfully this opportunity.
Within the Illubabor Bethel Synod / Shenandoah Presbytery partnership, we have seen the presence of Christ with new eyes. As brothers and sisters in Christ, Ethiopian and American, we seek to enhance our relationship in both spiritual and societal aspects of service. The mission of this particular project is helping high school students from all religious backgrounds to improve their English language capacity. Within this endeavor, Ethiopian and American students and teachers shall share experiences and further develop their teaching skills.
For more information about the upcoming trip, contact Pat Purslem at  pburslem331@comcast.net , or Renee McCulloch at srmcculloch@comcast.net AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.  The Facebook page is being updated very soon with more current information.

     Church-to-Church Partnerships

One of the ways of strengthening our partnership bonds with IBS is through the creation of Church-to-Church partnerships.  The establishment of "partnerships" between churches of Shenandoah and churches of Illubabor fosters a relationship at the congregational level which can lead to closer ties under the umbrella of the larger partnership between Shenandoah Presbytery and the Illubabor Bethel Synod which was first begun in 1989. Learn more about the Church-to-Church program.

     Buy a Pastor a Cow

Help supplement an IBS Pastors’ income by giving them a cow. They can have fresh milk for their family, some income from selling the milk, and sell the calf to a church member so they can benefit, too. A simple donation of $100 Buys a Pastor a Cow! Send your donation to:
