English Tutoring School
Shenandoah Presbytery’s Partnership Committee, in cooperation with the Illubabor Bethel Synod Youth Program of the Ethiopian Evangelical Church Mekane Yesus, invites students and educators to apply for participation in a summer English language tutoring school for high school students in Metu, Ethiopia for four weeks in the summer of 2016 (likely in July). Please consider prayerfully this opportunity.
Within the Illubabor Bethel Synod / Shenandoah Presbytery partnership, we have seen the presence of Christ with new eyes. As brothers and sisters in Christ, Ethiopian and American, we seek to enhance our relationship in both spiritual and societal aspects of service. The mission of this particular project is helping high school students from all religious backgrounds to improve their English language capacity. Within this endeavor, Ethiopian and American students and teachers shall share experiences and further develop their teaching skills.
Helping Ethiopian Orphans of AIDS Reach Tomorrow
In partnership with the Illubabor Bethel Synod, Ethiopia, Shenandoah Presbytery’s HEART Project seeks to help support the ministry to orphans of AIDS and their families.Gifts to the HEART Project go directly to support a child’s living, medical, educational and caretaker training expenses. One of the ways of strengthening our partnership bonds with IBS is through the creation of Church-to-Church partnerships. The establishment of “partnerships” between churches of Shenandoah and churches of Illubabor fosters a relationship at the congregational level which can lead to closer ties under the umbrella of the larger partnership between Shenandoah Presbytery and the Illubabor Bethel Synod which was first begun in 1989. To learn more about developing a partnership with an Ethiopian church, contact Renee McCulloch, chair, Partnership Committee by email.
Help supplement an IBS Pastors’ income by giving them a cow. They can have fresh milk for their family, some income from selling the milk, and sell the calf to a church member so they can benefit, too. A simple donation of $100 Buys a Pastor a Cow!
